About The Artist

Hello, welcome to my studio!

My name is Lydia, and I’m the artist behind these paintings.

I live in North Florida with my wonderful husband, our two absolutely amazing little girls, and our adorable dog, Coleman. We live in the same state where my husband was born and raised, but my story began much farther away.

I was born and raised in the Philippines as the fifth child of missionaries. I lived there until just before my 19th birthday, and growing up overseas shaped so much of who I am. As a Third Culture Kid, or TCK, I grew up experiencing a culture that was different from that of my parents. I think that experience gave me a deep love and curiosity for people, places, and cultures that aren’t my own. It taught me to notice the beauty in the unfamiliar and to appreciate the little details that make a place feel alive.

I’ve spent most of my life trying to create beautiful things. The desire to find beauty—and then create some of my own—has always been a part of me.

For six years, I was a hairstylist behind the chair. I loved getting to know people, hearing their stories, and having the opportunity to make someone feel beautiful. Now, instead of creating beauty for people to wear, I create paintings that I hope bring beauty into the spaces they call home.

I think of my paintings as little windows into beautiful moments.

My larger pieces are a celebration of color, texture, and the beauty I find in women, florals, and animals. I love creating backgrounds that feel alive and layered, then allowing the subject to emerge from all of that movement.

The women in my paintings are often inspired by the quiet strength of women—the kind that doesn’t need to be announced to be felt. I’m fascinated by the courage that can exist in softness, the bravery found in simply showing up, and the resilience that often goes unseen. To me, quiet doesn’t mean weak. Sometimes the quietest strength is the deepest kind.

Motherhood has been the greatest blessing of my life, and being a mom to two little girls has also changed the way I create. My days are full, and the quiet moments when I can paint are often found during naps, after bedtime, or whenever the house happens to grow still for a little while. My time in the studio has dwindled, but my need to create hasn’t disappeared.

In fact, I’ve learned that I need to create. It’s something that keeps me grounded, healthy, and connected to a part of myself that has always been there.

So I make time for both the big paintings—the ones that feel like I’ve poured a piece of my soul onto the canvas—and the tiny paintings that feel like little windows into beautiful moments.

Whether large or small, my hope is that each piece invites you to pause for a moment, notice something beautiful, and bring a little bit of that beauty home with you.

Thank you for being here and for stepping into my studio
